There comes a time when one simply gets fed up with feeling depressed, anxious, and/or stressed and says, “enough.” Individual therapy is an opportunity for a man or woman to work on the specific challenges that are interfering with his or her life satisfaction. It can involve learning skills to break out of habitual negative thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, or transforming old unhelpful beliefs and narratives into supportive and affirming ones. Individual therapy can be an investment in one’s self to clarify personal and career goals and move forward in achieving them.

When couples get locked in a negative dance that repeats over and over, both partners often feel bad, misunderstood, and disconnected. Couples therapy is an opportunity for partners to learn the steps of their negative dance, and the needs driving it. Just that greater awareness, facilitated by a skilled therapist, can sometimes be enough to initiate changes that stop the downward spiral. Beyond that, in therapy, partners can learn better ways to communicate that extend mutual respect, understanding, and connection, as well as enhance intimacy. Couples are welcome regardless of marital status and sexual orientation.

Helping families through major transitions is the focus of my family therapy practice. Families face both expected and unexpected challenges that can disrupt normal family life and members’ abilities to cope with change-related stress. For some families, it may be the difficult transition of a new baby, launching young people into adulthood, or caring for elderly parents. For other families, it may be coping with upcoming deployment, the return of a soldier from combat, or dealing with a loved one’s disability or death.

Positive Energy Coaching is life coaching that primarily uses positive psychology and energy psychology. I help people recognize their strengths, clarify their goals and make progress toward them. Coaching is for individuals who are ready to work on being their best selves, and want a positive supportive person to co-facilitate that process.
Coaching is not a healthcare practice and, therefore, no medical record is kept. This often makes it appealing for those in sensitive jobs. Coaching is also available for children, ten years old and up, who have mild to moderate issues with school performance, self-esteem or social skills. I offer a consultation to clarify whether coaching or therapy seems more appropriate. |
